This will remove any loose charcoal dust from the filter which is harmless to your pet. Place the filter in your fountain as directed on the insert inside the package. The water should flow through the polyester side of the filter first and exit out the black side. The position of the filter will vary depending on the fountain model. Replace the charcoal filter every 2 to 4 weeks. Replace more frequently with multiple pets using the fountain.
