It gets the job done, and was one of the cheaper rfid pet doors on the market, but that's where the positives end. I got this door to allow my dog to come and go from outside (to use the bathroom), but to keep my 2 cats inside. I previously tried a door with a magnet key, but it was very unreliable. I eventually just left the door unlocked, which worked for a couple months, until the cats figured it out and started bolting outside. So I bought this rfid door, hoping it would let the dog in and out with minimal issues, and keep the cats in. The range on this door is a little unpredictable. Sometimes the dog is laying on the couch, 5 feet away, and it will randomly unlock. Sometimes she's standing right by the door, and has to wait a few seconds for it to unlock. Whenever she walks by the door (which is pretty often), it unlocks. I can't imagine the batteries will last too long, since the door probably locks/unlock at least 50 times a day, even though she only needs to go out maybe 6 times a day. It's also not the quickest unlock, the dog has run into the door a few times because it won't unlock for another 1-2 seconds. It's enough of a delay that it could hamper potty training. My next issue is how slow and loud the lock process is. It's motorized, so after the dog leaves the range for 10 seconds (or something), the motor kicks on and takes about 4 noisy seconds to lower the door and relock. The dog has run into the door, trying to get back in, while it's slowly locking. Another deterrent to potty training, a complete waste of the 4D batteries, and a loud enough alert to the cats that "Oh hey, the door is doing something! Let me go see if I can escape now!" It took 5 days for the cats to figure this door out, and escape. This door is going back for sure.
