This bulb is only 5100k. If you look a little harder, you will be able to find a 6400k bulb at about the same cost which will really provide the cool white light you need to make an ordinary tank spectacular.

I love these light bulbs. The bright light shows off the color of my plants and fish, WAY better than a regular bulb!!!

This is a fine bulb for freshwater viewing only. It should really be a 50/50 bulb (one white one bluish). That would provide sufficient lighting needs for plants in freshwater. It also would allow a consumer to set up a small marine aquarium and have some easy to maintain corals and marine plants.
