This is a very good filter. And it's like one tenth the price of the course white filters. This pad is designed to be used with other filters just like the white filters. As cheap as it is why would you want to wash it? Don't be that cheap. throw the dirty nasty pad away and cut off a new fresh one. Then you will be happy.

This filter media was awful. It falls apart. It is really thin. I used it a few times but it is not worth messing with.

I love this filter pad. I have bought it in the past and it was thick, but now not so much.

On September 8, 2009:
I can custom cut my filter material for my homemade sump tank. I can peel apart the blue away in areas where I don't want that much flow restriction. Yes, it is a one time use but that is what I want. I don't mess with trying to wash my filter materials.

May be in bulk to save $$ - however, filter material is a 1 time use only cannot be rinsed and reused like similar filter pads - falls apart when rinsed - also clogged up easily did not filter very well - would not recommend - other filters may be more expensive but can be washed and reused - saving $$
