I read reviews on other sites before I bought. People had sugar water coming out the hose and blame it on expired yeast or the other packet which probably neutralizes the alcohol. Did they over fill it with hot water and put it below the waterline of the tank so that as it cooled, tank water got sucked in? This thing is as easy to use as an air pump and stone. Mine started to produce enough pressure to bubble over a foot below the water line within hours. Makes me want to start making wine and sticking the bubbler in the tank. Get more bubbles. As for the plants, not sure of any effects yet.

After paying close attention to the directions I have had the sugar solution start to empty into the tank. The first time it completely clouded the tank and had to completely redo the tank. This happened after 5 days. I redid the same setup and this time a caught it before it completely clouded my tank. After consulting with Hagen they said the activator packets were expired and they sent me new ones but with the third packet from the original box I used distilled water instead of tap water and it is working so far. Word of advise if you use this watch the dispensing tube carefully and if you see the bubbles moving very slow and a white substance below the tube pull it out asap. When you open the canister the sugar solution will have bubbled to the top and has started to inject the solution into the tank. Verify your packets are not expired, they last for 15months and even though the instructions call for tap water, use distilled.

by adding CO 2. Worth the purchase
