Coralife Super Skimmer with Needle Wheel Technology Aquarium Skimmers at Pet Mountain

I'm using this skimmer in my 20 gal refuge/sump tank, 90 gal display tank, it's been running for a couple weeks now, doing a great job pulling some nasty skimate. I hooked up as hob of display first just to play with adjustments, worked great that way also. Has large collection cup, but I use the included hose to a gal jug.

For the money, I think this skimmer is pretty hard to beat. It works as advertised, which is more than most cheap skimmers can say. A word of caution though, I have mine installed in a sump, which is the ONLY way I would install it. Mine overflowed excessively for 3 days!!!! it definitely would have made a HUGE mess if not in the sump. Now that it has broken in a little, it has stopped overflowing and is now skimming about 1 cup per week of dark disgusting crap in my newly established (and understocked) tank. I know the setup is slightly different for a hang-on-back setup (the pump is mounted a little higher), so it's possible it would be fine this way if set up properly. Based on the rate it was overflowing though, I wouldn't count on it. The bottom line: If you're on a budget, it's an excellent skimmer. It works well, but be VERY careful for the first few days during the break in period, otherwise you may end up with some very wet carpet.

This skimmer performs like any of the more expensive models and better than most of them!! Easy to use and arrived quickly.

Very quick break-in period. Skip mate is very thick and almost black. A superb skimmer at a very nice price. Intake pump and skimmer are a little bulk though.
