This was my first time buying parts for my Fluval 404 and I check other sites and I was very confused at which impeller shaft after reading the reviews and reading the description it was an easy choice.

My Fluval 405 was making a noise haven't heard before I thought some thing was stuck, it turned out to be the impeller rod. This was my first time ordering from Petmountain.com And I am very pleased. My package was shipped quick and well protected. I will be a return customer.

On April 17, 2010:
My lesson learned... the ceramic shaft breaks easily if you're not paying attention to replacing the impeller cover correct side up when cleaning the 305. An expensive little part when you add shipping and I've not found where you can buy the ceramic piece only w/o the rubber end piece. :(

On October 7, 2009:
The Fluval 404 is a great pump. After approximately 1 yr of continuous use, it became noisy. Replaced the white ceramic shaft and it was back to quiet times... (the shaft coating seems to wear off and it no longer provides a smooth gliding surface for the impeller to spin, thus becoming a bit noisy). Great price, shipping could have been cheaper for this small product (Like a padded envelope). I will stock up on a few more in case they break while the pump is cleaned.
