Mardel Maracyn Plus is the safest and most effective antibacterial medication I have tried. Maracyn Plus has a unique delivery system that brings the medication right to fish that need it (and to the areas of the fish that need treatment). Maracyn Plus won't heal every fish... but it also will not harm the healthy ones (as some medications do). Some pet stores routinely use another company's antibacteria medication (which makes the water yellow). Beware of those fish. You may experience "mystery" fish deaths - the fish may die weeks/months after purchase with no visible sign of disease. Some of the antibacterial medications may indeed be broad spectrum - but they cause liver damage and kidney damage in some fish, including healthy fish that may be in the same water. Maracyn Plus is also safer for the fish-keeper (other medications are known carcinogenics for humans - read the labels). If my natural treatments for bacterial diseases don't work after a few days - Maracyn Plus is the one I turn to.
