These boots have velcro "AND" a draw-string, which help to keep them from coming off. I returned the 1st set ordered, as they were too small. I ended up ordering "2 sizes" larger than the recommended size.

On December 19, 2012:
I wanted to love these...my Dalmatian/Lab mix had surgery on the bottom of one foot and after the bandage came off and stitches came out, my vet wanted him to wear a bootie on that foot during walks for a week afterwards. From the description, I thought these would be perfect ...the tougher bottom and supposedly water proof. Well, after 2 days of only walking 30 minutes each day, the seams around the bottom began pulling away and 'waterproof' is a joke. I think the material on the sides is potentially water repellant but nothing about the boot kept the water out. The inside of the boot and his foot was soaked...I had to use a hair dryer to blow dry the boot. It's a good thing it came in a 4 pack and I only needed one because they turned into disposable boots for me. The material on the bottom seems cheap and is likely the problem. The fit was true to size and the shape and ease of on off is nice but they need to seriously improve the material quality and make the boot more durable and water proof. Not worth the $20+ I paid for this with shipping...

These boots are wonderful for my American Staffordshire Terrier! They may seem tough, but in our cold North Dakota winters she is a wimp! I put them on her and put her out in the yard for a few minutes, and before she want out she was doing the high steps, but when she came back inside she was trotting around and showing them off! She LOVED them! I love the velcro and elastic bungee combination! Ps: MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE YOUR DOGS FEET! I was ignorant and got ones that are a bit big :o! My fault, not the companies.
