On May 30, 2011: Bought this to try on my dogs & cat. My Shiba X has a double coat (fine downy underlayer, rougher tan outer coat), but my pit X has a single coat. I think it works better on my Pit mix. My cat enjoys rubbing her face on it, but not much result with her coat. Everyone loves getting brushed because they love the attention and the massaging action, but the "teeth" aren't long enough to effectively penetrate the double coat of my Shiba mix. If your goal is to actually remove hair, I would definitely recommend this to owners of shorthaired dogs, but any dog with a longer or denser coat would probably benefit from a brush with longer teeth. I have been happy with the Kong Zoom Groom for my Shiba X (another rubber brush, but with longer teeth) but this is great for my shorthaired pit X.
