We have a 4-year-old female Newfoundland who likes to be groomed. We have tried a number of undercoat brushes and this is the one that works best. It is large enough to be effective for a 120 pound dog and the blades are deep enough to get well into the undercoat. One thing you have to be careful about is that the blades are sharp. Very sharp. I cut myself once and learned my lesson. I would give it five stars for effectiveness and price, but the sharp blades force me to drop it to a 4.
