Helps a lot - easy to use. One minor complaint relates to the process one has to follow to place the tank on the stand. This inevitably results in small splashes outside the fountain. They are small and easily cleaned up ... but it's an annoyance. All in all, this is a huge help as otherwise one has to refill the fountain every couple of days.

On August 2, 2011:
This reservoir is a great addition to the drinkwell fountain. Without it the water lasted about 2.5 days before running dry. With it it lasts over 7 days. When we went away for the weekend I was always worried the water wouldn't last, now I don't have to anymore. A must have if you are lazy :), or plan on leaving the kitties alone for a day or two.
