Carlson Pet Gates Flexi Walk Thru Gate with Pet Door Metal Dog Gates at Pet Mountain

We purchased this item specifically for our front porch. The color blends beautifully with our house. The flexibility of the gate is perfect for our very active pups (2). We wish the entry door were a bit wider. You can't walk thru with any reasonably sized items in your hand. Overall, the width of the gate was exactly what we needed. One drawback is the gate showed signs of rusting almost immediately. The customer service department was exceptional and replaced the gate for a new one. We are extremely pleased with this company and expedient response to our circumstance.

The gate is great, and will do just what I need, which is keep the dogs out of my kitchen while allowing the cat through to her food. However, my experience with Pet Mountain was not good. Like the earlier review by John from AZ, Pet Mountain shipped me a used gate. And, not only had the gate been used and returned, it was BROKEN. After paying for "ground" shipping (2-5 days), and waiting for over a week for my gate (not due to Pet Mountain, but because of a holiday weekend), to receive a broken, completely unusable, gate made me more than a little angry. I called customer service, and the representative I spoke with indicated that I "should never have received returned merchandise." After reading John's review, though, I question that... When I asked to have the replacement, NEW, gate sent overnight I was told they couldn't do that, but that they would send the replacement "express", one level faster than I originally paid for, due to the problem, and that I would have a replacement in 2-3 business days. Well, it turns out that they sent the replacement via FedEx ground, the same as the original. So I'm not getting my replacement any faster, because from CA to MN via FedEx ground takes 4 days, minimum. Then, to top it off, they are making a claim through FedEx, saying that the original gate was damaged in shipping, which I explained to the customer service rep was definitely not the case. The gate was very obviously broken by the people that originally bought and returned it, NOT by FedEx in shipping, yet Pet Mountain is going to make a claim to FedEx for "damages." What kind of company ships out obviously returned, broken, merchandise, and then makes a claim for damages by their shipper? They may have the "cheapest prices online" (a direct quote from their recording during the 15 minutes I was on hold for customer service), but their business practices definitely leave something to be desired! I'd recommend finding this gate elsewhere online and paying a few dollars more, rather than dealing with the aggravation I had from Pet Mountain.

This gate was easy to install and looks good. It is well constructed. I looked long and hard before deciding to purchase this gate to go across 73-inch wide opening. When I first installed it, I thought I would have preferred the gate on one side rather than in the middle, but saw the logic in being in the middle after I finished.

On April 14, 2012:
The good news. Carlson makes a great gate. Small door for our chihuahua to get to his favorite seat in the living room, yet too small for the big dogs to get through. Pet Mountain shipped it immediately and it arrived at my front door quickly. The bad news. They sent me a used gate that had been returned. I even found the return slip in the box. Several pieces were scratched. Pet Mountain, to their credit, did offer to take it back and send me a new one, but I needed it right away, so elected to use the scratched gate. It would be 5 stars except for this. I would recommend Carlson and would also recommend Pet Mountain, BUT be sure to say that you do not want returned merchandise.

On February 28, 2012:
This gate was for a area that was not a regular size or shape. I fit the irregular shape well and I would recommend for anyone to try it. We are very happy about the fit and quality!

We have a very wide opening leading into our living room. This is the perfect gate to keep our 2 very energetic Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers from jumping on the furniture in this room. Thanks much for a great product.

The pet gate arrived when promised and in perfect condition. It had not been easy to find a reasonably-priced pet gate for wide spaces--68"--but this worked very nicely. It was easy to install and use. Also, it is a nice-looking gate that fits in with neutral decor. Best of all, it keeps the new puppy in the kitchen area when my daughter is at work!

On October 16, 2010:
very pleased with this gate, including the color, pale beige. Wish the walk-through door were a wider opening (as in a different Carlson pet gate that I have). I recommend it highly as it is virtually impossible to find a good quality gate that is as tall and wide as this one, and has a walk-through gate.

This gate is the solution to a 5 year battle between pet gates. we have a off set wall where we needed the gate. This gate fit perfect. We are happy and the our dogs can't climb, destroy, or get past it. And no more jumping over we just walk threw.

BEST IDEA EVER, I HAVE LITTLE DOGS BUT I HAVE ONE THAT CLIMBS. THIS ALLOWS ME TO CONFINE THEM WHEN NEEDED BUT STILL BE ABLE TO CROSS OVER OR THROUGH WITHOUT FALLING IN THE FLOOR OR HAVING TO UNDO THE FENCE EVERY TIME. THERE ARE NO CROSS BARS FOR THE LITTLE ONE TO CLIMB WITH. IT ALSO IS VERY STYLISH NOT SO BULKY LIKE THE WOOD ONES. I LOVE IT!!!
