Can safely be used with all PondCare water conditioners, filtration materials, medications & fish foods. Monitor salt levels with a PondCare Salt Level Test Kit. Dosage may be doubled for ponds without plants for healthier fish.
All natural sea salt replaces electrolytes essential for the uptake of oxygen and release of carbon dioxide and ammonium;made from evaporated sea salt;temporarily blocks the toxic effects of nitrate; safe and non-toxic to all pond fish.
Ponds Without Plants: Add 2-1/2 cupfuls of Pond Salt per each 100 U.S. gallons of pond water. Distribute salt evenly around the perimeter of the pond. After one hour, measure the salt level; salt level should be 0.2%. If the salt level is too high, make a partial water change.
Ponds With Plants: Certain aquatic plants are sensitive to salt; use this lower salt level when plants are present. Add 1-1/4 cupfuls of Pond Salt per each 100 U.S. gallons of pond water. Distribute the salt evenly around the perimeter of the pond. After one hour, measure the salt level; salt level should be 0.1%. If the salt level is too high, make a partial water change.
Disease Treatment for Pond Fish: In a clean plastic container, dissolve 2-1/2 cupfuls in 10 U.S. gallons of pond water for 5 to 10 minutes. DO NOT use tap water. Carefully put the infected fish in the salt bath (2.0%) for 5 to 10 minutes. DO NOT leave fish in the salt bath for longer than 10 minutes! Be sure to cover the bath container with netting or similar material to prevent fish from jumping out of the bath container. After 10 minutes, place the treated fish back into the pond.
