Zoo Med ReptiSun 5.0 UVB Bulbs Provide the exact band of rays within the UVB spectrum for maximum vitamin D3 synthesis and calcium absorption. ReptiSun 5.0 UVB Bulbs supply an amazing 5.0% UVB and up to 30% UVA; outputs active UVB up to 12" from the bulb's surface. Use with lizards (other than iguanas), to help prevent bone problems, as well as turtles and tortoises to improve shell growth. Increases appetite, activity and breeding.

NOTE: Zoo Med is currently upgrading the design and packaging of the bulbs. Some bulbs will be changing from T-12 to T-8 bulbs. We will be updating the site as our inventory changes to the new design. T-8 Bulbs will work in T-12 fixtures, they also have more lumens and require less energy to run so they are more energy efficient.

Contains the highest amounts of both UVB and UVA wavelengths. The UVB wavelength helps to prevent or reverse Metabolic Bone Disease in green iguanas as well as other species of lizards in captivity. Strengthens and improves shell growth on all captive turtles and tortoises. UVA wavelength increases appetite, physical activity, helps to induce reproductive behaviors and is beneficial to the psychological well-being of captive reptiles and amphibians.

Safer than adding powdered or liquid synthetic D3 supplements, as the UVB wavelength allows all reptiles the ability to regulate their own Vitamin D3 levels by endogenous synthesis as they would in nature! Eliminates the risk of vitamin D3 overdose (highly toxic) from synthetic sources. Wavelength penetrates a full 10-12" from the bulb's surface. We use pure quartz glass sleeves. The bulb's UVA/UVB wavelength remains effective for 1 to 1-1/2 years. (Replace bulbs yearly).
