The difference in water quality is amazing. The surface is like glass, the tank looks better because the light can penetrate the surface better, and my cichlids seem much happier. I should have gotten this much sooner. No cons on this so far, running for a couple of weeks now.

On July 22, 2009:
I run mine on a Maxi-Jet 1200, feeding directly into my DIY protein skimmer. Mine connected perfectly to the intake of my MaxiJet 1200 without using the included hose they give you. This surface skimmer is hard to beat for the price. Every once in a while you'll need to fiddle with the adjustment on it, but it's not a hassle. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the suction cups that hold it are a bit cheezy. I use this on a 25 gallon tank, and that seems to be it's useful limit. On larger tanks you'll want to go with something more beefy.

Good alternative to buying a whole new skimmer, makes the surface water very clear without agitation, for those with planted tanks and are concerned with CO2 loss.
