Drinkwell Big Dog Fountain - 2.25 Gallons Electric Dog Waterers at Pet Mountain

My cat always wanted to drink from running water and I bought her the small Drinkwell fountain. But my dog wanted to drink from it too and ran the water out fast so I bought the Big Dog Drinkwell. It holds almost a weeks worth of clean, fresh water and it is usable for my cat, too!

I LOVE this product it is easy to clean and my dogs love the fresh water. I have two and looking to buy the indoor/outdoor one. I AM EXCITED TO GET ONE MORE!

Sturdy unit but much too noisy to use indoors. Read a review about this item that also said it was noisy but thought it would be tolerable - like the sound of fridge or aquarium, but turned out to be much louder than that and even when stuffed with sound insulation it was impossible to use in the house. Will make a nice addition to the yard once the weather warms up though.

Having multiple dogs, filling the watering bowl was constant. Ordered the largest water 8 yrs ago. It still works but was too noisy. Decided it was time to get a new one. So glad we did order it! Quiet motor, holds water for the entire day. Filter eleminates dog saliva. Water aerated as it flows thru the filer and into the bowl. Considering the first one was 8 yrs old and other than the noise was still working, I would highly recommend this specific watering item!

Love the fountain but it has a lot of little crevicies and even with the cleaning tools sold seperately it is hard to clean and takes a long time. It is in my attic and I am looking for another kind as my dog loves it but cleaning it is a NIGHTMARE.

Love the Big Dog water fountain. This is second one I have purchased. The first lasted 7 years! This one is sturdier and easier to clean. I dump water out and clean every couple of days, and my animals are healtier and happy with fresh water to drink!!

Love your product only one flaw -- where pump assembly sets there is a small plastic piece that holds adjuster for flow. Broke off first week making the adjuster fall out and only thing holding this piece is tfe cover.

I use the dog fountain for my cats, holds lots of water and I only have to clean and fill once a week instead of every 2 days.

I use the dog water bowl for my cats, its great, more cats can get to the water and the amount of water lasts the whole week instead of 2 days. Wash once a week fill and your good to go!

Everyone loves the big dog fountain. It took my 3 other cats a few days to drink out of it but they love it now. It's where the dogs can't get to it so i am going to buy another one just for them. i did break it down and clean it as per recommended after one week and will continue to do so. It took me 5 min to wash it and refill with clean water. Then again i had practiced when it arrived brand new. I have looked at a lot of pet fountains out there before i bought this one. I feel i bought the best one out there for my 4 legged family. I wish i had done this years ago.

I have 4 cat's and 2 dogs. i bought the big dog because i have quite a few pets. But i really bought a water fountain for 1 cat in particular Mousy. When ever i run water in the sink he thinks it's for him, and he hogs my sink for 5 min every time I turn on the water. Well he was at his fountain as soon as he got up from his nap and found it. He drinks from the the pour spout, he dips his paws in and then licks his paws and he plays in it. he is so happy, he hasn't jumped on my counter for water since he has his own. No one else is using it yet but it has only been 24 hrs. Very impressed it's as quiet as it is. Very Very glad i bought it. Even if no one else uses it i am glad i bought the big dog. It holds lots of water and i won't have to refill as often as if i had bought a smaller one. i did buy the better filters though and i will my clean the fountain as suggested. It arrived fast and all put together and ready to go.

This large Fountain really works well. It took my pets a couple of days to get used to it. I have one cat who is blind. She was attracted to it by the fountain sound. Once she started using it, the other cat and my two dogs were right behind her. Fortunately they all get along so they can share. Love it. Highly recommend. Be sure to get the cleaning kit and filters. Keep your pet's water clean.

Although it holds a huge amount of water, it didn't do what i thought it was going to. I have a greater swiss mountain dog and he drinks an enormous amount of water. He is sooo messy, whenever i look in the water bowl it seems as if he just dumped all of his food in there. I have two other smaller dogs that are a lot cleaner and i was hoping this bowl would filter the water so that the food wouldn't stay on the bottom and float around. It also says there is an inside grate to keep the food from getting in the way, but i'm not sure what they are talking about because i have yet to see the grate.

On June 26, 2011:
The drinkwell big dog fountain is working well so far. I've cleaned it once and it wasn't too difficult. I have 2 dogs, one large and one medium and I need to fill the reservoir every 1-2 days but compared to a previous brand fountain I had, this one is easy to refill. The stream of the fountain is slightly wimpy but that's ok. I figure that at least the water is recirculating. The quality of the plastic piece controlling the flow is concerning but again so far so good.

Love this product, we have a large dog and I was filling his water bowl 6 or more times a day. With this fountain I don't have to anymore! Easy to set up and works great!

I have 3 large dogs and used to have one of those drinking reservoirs that had the 5 gallon jugs that sat on top of it. I hated it because it would smell like algae after a few days (and so one of my dogs would walk over to it, sniff it, and then drink out of the cat fountain) and when it came time to refill it since it didnt fit in the sink I would have to fill water bottles and pour them in it. And don't get me started on trying to get it turned over so that I could get all of the water in the right place and not have it spill all over the kitchen floor! So, now, all I do is fill the jug and put it back in the fountain with no spill! Yes, I need to fill that about every day but I can get it right under the kitchen faucet with no trouble and it isn't heavy. I love this fountain and after a game of frisbee outside, all dogs can drink out of the fountain at the same time! Yes, just as others said, there probably will be a floating collection of drool, but I scoop some out with a cup and since I rinse it out once a week, it isn't too bad. Also, the cats love the little "waterfall"! Comes apart great for cleaning and really does fit in the dishwasher! Buy this, you won't regret it (especially if you live in a multi-pet household)!

Didn't clean the drool out of the water. After a day or two the water starts to smell. It may be OK for a small dog but, not for a Big Dog
