Cutting Back On Product

I have been using these filter elements for many years and over the past few have noticed that the weave in the product seems much more porous than they had been in the past. I guess like everything else in the marketplace today, you pay more and get less. I decided to improvise by adding a layer of cheesecloth on the top of these. There is a product that I've used in the past that was either Black Jack or Black Magic, that had a very tight weave and lasted for months, but this vendor doesn't carry it. I'll continue my search
