It took my 10 yr old son, with supervision and minor assistance, about 20 minutes to assemble this cage (I made him read instructions step-by-step). No tools required. His hamster loves the heck out of this thing. She's a bit chubby & cannot turn around in the tubes, but she does not seem to mind the exercise it provides. She uses both the loft and ball as bedding and food hideaways. The ball, my son discovered, glows faintly. It is perfect for single occupants but I would not recommend this for multiple pets.
I have had this a few weeks and my hamster loves it. The ball is quiet until you wash the tube that holds it in but if you put a little oil on the wheels for the ball it quiets it back down. The petting zone is a little tough to take off the tube for cleaning but that just means I don't have to worry about her falling.
