These auto siphon water very well, very easy to get the little mechanism to start the flow of water out, but not a very strong pull on the substrate. Perhaps I am just so used to using my 35' connect-to-fresh water heavy duty siphon for my 75G. Also, the large clear collection tube has a very narrow connection to the drain line flexible tubing, and it is rather difficult to clear if clogged. I have no idea how anyone with a large aquarium could use this as a main WC device.. why? Because the drain line which each model seems to vary in length with are not long enough to attach to anything but a bucket under or near the tank, and no device to attach to an inlet/faucet. I can only say it is decent as a tool to suck up leftover food or dead algae in a hurry without the need to get the main WC apparatus out. It would be nice if you have a small tank, 15 gal or so, and are used to using a bucket to fill your tank. Overall, not that there really is anything "wrong" with it, rather, just not made for the major 40% WC in any large tank, imo.
Coolest aerator on the market, considering they connect and you can make it as long or short as you wish. Well made and couldn't be happier with the overall cost of the item!
