DO NOT buy if you care about your pet's feelings and health! 1. WAY too small the people who say they put more than 1 baby turtle in this should go search online about turtles. 2. Easy to escape out of Even baby turtles can easily crawl out. 3. 10 gallons per inch of turtle This lagoon is less a gallon even when completely filled up. 4. Treat them as if you would treat yourself As someone said here, imagine living in a small box! 5. No hiding areas 6. Basking spot is too small 7. Does not imitate natural habitat.  There are about a hundred different other reasons why you shouldn't buy this. At least get this as a feeding area or traveling 'bag'. Do NOT use this as a permanent habitat or an extended habitat. Either don't get this death bowl and get a proper tank of at least 15 gallons, or don't get a turtle at all!

On October 18, 2011:
When I ordered the 12" kidney Lagoon, I thought that my three small aquatic turtles would have enough room to move around, but I was wrong. The center island blocks the turtles from moving around freely, and they never climb up to the top of the island to feed. Because of the tight alley space around the island, they climb on each other's back and one of the turtles managed to climb out of the container.

For BABY Turtles this is just fine. Easy to clean. As they grow you get larger accommodations! It is simple as that--to call it a Death Bowl and all that nonsense is just that --> nonsense!! Turtles in the wild have miles and miles to roam as do fish--so if you want to compare--even a 200 gallon tank would be too small and considered a "death bowl."

Your turtle lagoon is exactly what we were looking for. It reminds me of when I had turtles as a kid. Now my 6 and 4 year olds are excited to get a new, easy to clean lagoon for their pet turtles.

This is a horrible home. These things are called deathbowls. A suitable habitat would be a fish tank, ranging from 20 gal to even monstrous 200gal. This lagoon is what some of us refer to as deathbowls. Imagine you, yes you, living in a a small box for the rest of your life.

I'm appalled that these are still sold - these 'lagoons' do not begin to offer the turtle a decent life or good health. Like most other pets, turtles can be very expensive to keep but please use a large Rubber-Maid bin before considering this item. Also, it is NOT TRUE that turtles will only grow to the size of their enclosure - this wisdom is also used for fish & is equally cruel. Not a tree-hugger, just hate to see animals abused or neglected because of ignorance.

Aquatic turtles need to be under water to swallow and this enclosure is too small and too shallow to do this for any but the smallest hatchling. This is an interesting nostalgia piece but shouldn't be used for husbandry.

THESE ARE GREAT FOR BEGINNERS WITH NEW AQUATIC TURTLES. ITS EASY TO CLEAN AND DOESN'T TAKE UP A LOT OF SPACE. I LOVE IT!

turtle lagoons are a safe and easy place to raise your turtle. they grow to their habitat so if you keep them in the lagoons they stay smaller. they also have a mound for the turtle to crawl out of the water on. they are easy to clean and keep down the turtle smell. they are reasonably priced and easily shipped to you. Turtle Lagoons are very decorative and have little palm trees for the turtle. They also bring a real good profit for resale.
