Have used the bonded pad that you can cut to fit and it worked well. This pad is fine, reasonably priced and really removes small waste and clears your water in no time. Price is wonderful. Local store sells this for over 3 times as much.

My favorite!

I use this filter pad in the top center chamber of a 28 gal nano and find it to be the best I've ever used. Just wish it came in bulk sizes! Besides doing an excellent job of filtering debris and small particles, I love it because the mini brittle starfish that manage to climb into the chamber don't become entangled in it. I've used filter floss and many other types of filter media in the past and always had to carefully remove, or try to cut out, the stars every time I changed the filter. Now, they just pluck right off.......and no legs left behind! It's also easier for the pods to hop off each time I change the media. : )
