It worked perfect until the day of its death.

Pen-Plax Cascade Mod. #12300. The heater worked well for a year and four months and then just died. Granted the temperature set indicator was about 5 degrees off but it only took 24 hours to determine that and I adjusted the temperature accordingly. After that I never touched the thermostat again. I noticed some folks go crazy if the indicator isn't spot on. No big deal, it held the tank at a steady temperature through the winter. The area where I kept the 55 gallon tank dropped to 53 degrees during the winter but the temperature in the tank stayed at the year round 78 degrees. I wish it had lasted longer but it performed perfectly until the day of its death. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it only lasted 1 yr. and 4 mo. If you take into consideration its high duty cycle during two winter months I believe it did quite well for a $15.00 heater.
