Seachem Matrix Bio-Media for Marine and Freshwater Aquariums

This is an excellent media. The available sizes are a lot for smaller tanks because you use so little. The various sized pieces make it easy to select smaller pieces for smaller filters, or to fill a larger area. Would recommend this product.

Sure you can purchase garden pumice stone for a cheaper price but if you want a good, clean, ready to use pumice stone media then this is a great product for you.

Provides exceptional Bio Filtration in my over stocked/planted 60 aquarium. I use it and ONLY Matrix along with filter floss and the two make an exceptional team in removing toxins and polishing my water to supreme conditions. It is simple, easy, effective and highly efficient as a stand alone product...no longer have any need for any other filter products! I'm Positive you'll love it as well. Washes clean with a quick rinse while NEVER losing any beneficial bacteria...even if rinsed in clorinated tap water as I do bi-weekly.

I love this because I can fit a lot more of this media than the ceramic rings. So far, I've noticed it the last 5 days that my nitrates are going down...

I've had My 55 Gal. Tank for about three months now, used 20 fish to cycle with, had lots of trouble with ammonia. I've tried everything I could think of, from 50% water changes every other day... I Purchased Matrix and added to my canister filter and with a week ammonia 0 ppm, nitrite 0 ppm, nitrate 0 ppm. the best yet.. My ammonia levels was over 5.0 ppm. it was off the scale.

Great bio-media, slowly replacing my ceramic, you get a big bang in a small package. Seachem comes through again.

I have 4 tanks up, most overstocked, and though overstocked African cichlid tanks look wonderful, ammonia can creep up along with nitrates, and seriously do some damage on the health of your fish if not careful. With that being said, I have been doing this for 15 years, and though I only use API XP and Fluval FX6 canister filters, that is using what everybody often uses, the ceramic rings, bio chem stars, etc. etc., and knowing that Seachem's Neutral Regulator for new world cichlids and Prime for just about any fresh water fish, one tends to forget about the greatness that is Seachem. So looking at the reviews I decided to try this and already after just a couple of weeks I see a dramatic difference and my PURIGEN has not even arrived yet, still using the Bio Chem Zorb that API makes. Because of this, how you don't have to keep your rings bagged and thrown in a bucket of tank water to keep the bacteria in them, I can freely spray tap water on these wonderful rocks, and still have a great force of biological media that I am now a full believer, that there is nothing better. To all who have not crossed over to the wonderful world of Seachem products for filter media, do so now and leave those ceramic rings and bio chem stars to that of the amateurs, because Seachem has out done themselves again.

I run two tanks ( overstocked ) and use only seachem matrix. Once cycled neither tank has ever shown even small traces of ammonia or nitrites. Sure the nitrate builds up but the bacteria that grows on this matrix is just awesome. i no longer use carbon or ammonia chips - none of it. Nothing but matrix and filter floss. as long as nothing changes, I will continue to use only seachem matrix in all my cannisters.
